BREAKING: Kaduna Train Hostage Negotiator Arrested In Egypt

Tukur Mamu, the spokesman for Ahmad Gumi, a preacher with roots in Kaduna, was detained in Egypt on Tuesday.

As he awaited a connecting aircraft to Saudi Arabia, Interpol apprehended and arrested him at the Cairo International Airport.

The release of some of the victims of the March 2022 Kaduna Train attack was arranged by Mr. Mamu, Publisher of the Desert Herald Newspaper in Kaduna.

He did, however, tell PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday morning that Interpol had flown him back to Nigeria after questioning him and finding no evidence against him.

His two wives and one other individual were with him.

He is expected to arrive at Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano Wednesday afternoon and may be interrogated further by officials of Nigerian secret police, Department of State Security (DSS).

Mr Mamu announced his withdrawal as the lead negotiator in securing the release of the hostages of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack after he alleged a threat to his life by the Nigerian government.

The terrorists are still holding several of the victims captive.
