Three relatives of Steve Orogwu, chairman of the Ikwo Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, were assassinated by gunmen.
The hoodlums assaulted the chairman’s residence in Ekpaomaka on Tuesday night, according to a source who spoke to The Nation.
Three of his family, as well as the security guard on duty, were killed by the intruders.
In an emotional voice, Orogwu verified the occurrence to our reporter.
He said: “They attacked my house at night and killed my elder brother and two of his son’s and our security guard”.
He also claimed that the shooters burned down the family’s home.
It was also learned that the victims’ bodies were transferred to an Abakaliki mortuary.
As at the time of writing this article, the purpose for the attack was unknown.
When reached for comment, Ebonyi Police spokesman Loveth Odah stated she was away on official business.
