FRSC Beg Nigerians To Ride Bicycles To Avoid Accidents

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), there is a need to switch to bicycles in order to prevent road traffic accidents (RTAs).

Henry Benamaisia, the agency’s state commander in Edo, said this at an event commemorating the state’s 2021 World Bicycle Day.

Benamaisia stated that the FRSC promoted cycling as a mode of transportation since it aimed to reduce RTAs by 15% and fatalities by 20%.

He stated that it was widely assumed that implementing Non-Motorised Transportation would help to reduce RTAs and promote healthy living.

Bicycles, according to Benamaisia, have the following advantages: they are easy to maintain, inexpensive, dependable, ecologically friendly, promote fitness, and serve as a health booster.

He mentioned that several countries were adopting and changing legislation to offer road infrastructure for bicycle lanes and other amenities that would make cycling safer and more secure.

Benamaisia stated that the FRSC and the Nigerian Cycling Federation were collaborating to guarantee that the program of encouraging people to utilize bicycles as a mode of transportation to maintain a healthy lifestyle becomes a reality.
