BREAKING: FG advises Nigerians travelling to UK, USA, Europe

Nigerians traveling to the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and certain European nations have received advice from the federal government to take security precautions.

It expressed concern over the rate at which Nigerian travelers were misplacing their possessions, international passports, and cash in the two nations.

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture, provided the counsel at the fifth PMB Administration Scorecard (2015-2023)Series event in Abuja.

The government has become aware that Nigerian visitors visiting the US and certain European nations are having their personal possessions, particularly cash and international passports, stolen at an alarmingly high rate.

“The most recent victims of this are travelers to the UK, most of whom were dispossessed of their belongings at high brow shops, particularly in the high street of Oxford.

“We have therefore decided to advise Nigerians travelling to Europe and the United States to take extra precautions to
avoid being dispossessed of their belongings.

“This is not your typical travel advisory. Issuing such is the prerogative of our embassies/high commissions as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“It is merely a piece of advice to Nigerians who may be visiting the affected parts of the world.”
