BREAKING: Delta Assembly Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori In Early Lead Ahead Of Ex-Governor Ibori’s Candidate, Others At PDP Governorship Primaries

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori is in an early lead with a wide margin in the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) primary election.

The election commenced Wednesday at about 3:30pm after a long period of disagreement between the electoral panel from the National Working Committee of the party and the governorship aspirants’ agents at the Stephen Kechi Stadium, Asaba, the venue of the governorship primary election.

There were 824 accredited delegates.
Oborevwori, who is representing Okpe constituency, is Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s anointed candidate.

He contested the election with a former commissioner for finance, David Edevbie, who is the anointed candidate of former governor James Ibori.

Other aspirants include the state deputy governor, Kingsley Otuaro; Senator representing Delta South senatorial district, James Manager; former Attorney General and commissioner for justice, Peter Mrakpo and nine other aspirants.

As of time press time, voting had ended and sorting of ballot papers had commenced with the speaker leading the pack.
