BREAKING: Lagos Reacts To Allegation Of Giving MC Oluomo Appointment After Suspension From Road Transport Union

The Lagos State Government has denied claims that it cleared Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, for the position of General Manager of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee.

This was said in a statement by Gboyega Akosile, the State Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Babajide Sanwoolu.

MC Oluomo’s son, King West, announced on Instagram that his father had been appointed General Manager of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Committee, according to a report.

In a statement, Akosile debunked the report, urging the general public to disregard it, noting that the government’s position has not changed from details of a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announcing the suspension of NURTW activities in all parks and garages in the state.

He said: “Please disregard post(s) claiming that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed suspended Chairman of NURTW, MC Oluomo as GM, Lagos Transport Parks and garages committee. There’s no such appointment.

“The statement issued yesterday by Mr Gbenga Omotoso, Hon Commissioner for Information and Strategy, remains the position of government.”

The Lagos State government has put a stop to NURTW’s operations in the state.

For several weeks, there has been a crisis in the union, which ended in the national organization suspending MC Oluomo, the Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the union.

Following his suspension, MC Oluomo announced the state chapter of the union’s departure from the national body and requested that the state government take over the union’s business in its jurisdiction.

On Thursday, the state’s police command tightened up security in preparation for any violence that may occur as a result of the issue.

The administration announced the suspension of NURTW’s activities in the state in a statement issued by Gbenga Omotoso, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, on Thursday night.

It said, “After considering the provisions of the law, the Government hereby suspends the activities of NURTW, which must cease to operate in all parks and garages in Lagos State. The Government will set up a Committee to immediately take control of the parks and garages. Members of the committee will be key stakeholders in the sector.

“The Government’s position is premised on its responsibility to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in all parks and garages in Lagos State.”
