BREAKING: Buhari Swears In 7 New Ministers [Full List]
On Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari swore in seven new ministers who had previously been vetted and approved by the Senate.
There were two batches of four and three people each for the Federal Executive Council’s (FEC) swearing-in ceremony.
The first group included Ademola Adewole Adegoroye from Ondo State, Odum Odih from Rivers State, Umana Okon Umana from Akwa Ibom State, and Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh from Abia State.
The second batch includes Egwumakama Joseph Nkama from Ebonyi State, Goodluck Nnana Opiah from Imo State, and Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub from Kano State.
This reorganization will effect 11 ministry positions.
Below is the list of the ministers’ new portfolios:
1. Adeleke Mamora – Minister of Science and Technology (formerly Minister of State, Health)
2. Mu’azu Jaji Sambo – Minister of Transportation (formerly Minister of Power)
3. Umanna Okon Umanna – Minister of Niger Delta
4. Sharon Ikeazor – Minister of State, Niger Delta (formerly Minister of State, Environment)
5. Gbemisola Saraki – Minister of State, Mines and Steel Development (formerly minister of state, Transportation)
6. Umar Ibrahim EI-Yakub – Minister of State, Works and Housing
7. Goodluck Nanah Opiah – Minister of State, Education
8. Ekumankama Joseph Nkama – Minister of State, Health
9. Ikoh Henry Ikechukwu – Minister of State, Science and Technology
10. Odum Udi – Minister of State, Environment
11. Ademola Adewole Adegoroye – Minister of State, Transportation
Before the swearing-in, a minute’s silence was observed in honour of Mohammed Barkindo, the 4th Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretary-General, who died at the age of 63 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, the Senate eventually received the list of seven nominees from Buhari for consideration and confirmation as Ministers.
They will replace Ministers who resigned in May 2022 to pursue their political ambition.
The new Ministers will now join the Buhari administration which has less than one year left in office.
