BREAKING: Bandits Gun Down University Lecturer, Policemen, Others In Benue

In separate incidents in Benue State, gunmen thought to be bandits have killed at least five people, including two policemen, a university lecturer, and two others.

According to information obtained by NEWS DIRECT, the attacks happened in the state’s Guma and Ukum Local Government Areas.

According to the Daily Trust, when the armed men invaded the area in Yelewata of Guma LGA, a border town between Benue and Nasarawa States, roughly two policemen were slain.

Similar to this, on Thursday night in Jootar in Ukum LGA, a border settlement between Benue and Taraba States, one Fred Akaayar, a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at the Federal University, Wukari in Taraba State, and two other people were shot and killed.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the Guma incident.

She said, “I received information about two policemen killed in an operation but I am yet to receive details please,” the PPRO stated in a reply to a text message sent by our correspondent”.
