In Kaduna, Bandits Invade Community, Abduct 33, Kill Driver

A gang of bandits attacked Madaka hamlet in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday night, killing one person and kidnapping 33 civilians.

Several residents were alleged to have been injured in various ways as a result of the incident.

Residents scurried to safety as the bandits stormed the neighborhood around 10:30 p.m. and began shooting indiscriminately at anything they saw.

According to an eyewitness, the bandits, who arrived in huge numbers and wielded lethal weapons, attacked a bakery in the vicinity, shot a driver, and kidnapped five inhabitants before moving on to a place known as Mother Cat.

The hoodlums grabbed 28 local inhabitants and fled into the forest at Mother Cat.

The source said, “The bandits invaded the community on Wednesday night and started shooting sporadically when the residents were still in their shops and attending to other personal activities.

“They attacked a bakery where they shot a driver and kidnapped five people before proceeding to another location called Mother Cat where they kidnapped 28 persons.

He added, however, that the military intervention averted more fatality even as it was learnt that the bandits operated for more than two hours carting away foodstuffs.

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the attack on Thursday.
