Tension In Kaduna As IMN leader, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky’s Trial Resumes Today

The trial of Alhaji Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), and his wife resumed in Kaduna and its environs on Wednesday.

The hearing will be presided over by Justice Gideon Kurada of the Kaduna High Court, who will investigate claims against El-Zakzaky such as disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly.

To prevent a breakdown of law and order, security operatives, including police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), were on high alert.

According to the trial before the state capital’s court, police trucks blocked all roads going to Kaduna central market, Kawo, and Angwan Rimi, and fierce-looking security officers were stationed in crucial locations.

Shops and offices were locked up, and store owners who made it in were observed in groups discussing the insecurity plaguing the state and country.

Vehicle mobility and roadside hawkers were both prohibited.
