Valentine Ozigbo was confirmed the lawfully nominated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the November 6 governorship election in Anambra State by the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday.
The two appeals filed by Ozigbo and the PDP (CA/AW/223/2021 and CA/AW/234/2021) were unanimously upheld by a three-member panel presided over by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem.
In two rulings issued on Friday, the appellate court overturned a July 19, 2021 decision by Justice Justice A.O. Nwabunike of the Anambra State High Court in Awka confirming Senator Ugochukwu Uba as the PDP’s genuine candidate in the governorship election.
Senator Uba was also fined N10 million by the court.
