Amosun Is Shameless, APC Should Sanction Him, Says Former Minister, Adebayo Shittu
Adebayo Shittu, former Minister of Communication and a chieftain of the All Progress Congress (APC) has called on the National Working Committee of the party to sanction the immediate past governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for his anti-party activities.
Amosun had threatened to stop at nothing to stop the party from winning the governorship election in 2023. Shittu however found this reprehensible.
Shittu posited that “the party should do something about it.”
Speaking on Arise TV on Monday, the former minister said that he was disappointed at the former governor who, according to him, “from his body language and statements was trying to play god.”
“I am disappointed because he is a practicing Muslim. Every practising Muslim should understand that God is supreme and is only one. How can somebody who was in office when an election was held, lost out now claim the election was rigged?”
“Against the party’s interest, he sponsored a candidate on the platform of another party and he was so shameful to claim that the election was rigged. He didn’t go to court; he didn’t go to the election tribunal, so he didn’t do the needful.”
Shittu said instead of making braggadocio, Sen Amosun ought to bury his face in shame.
“It is most unfortunate and I know that he did was not in the party’s interest and his (Amosun’s) own interest,” he said.
He maintained that Amosun for making that claim, he has made himself a laughing stock, because he was sitting governor.
He added that it is a shame that Amosun worked in contravention of the interest of the party “to have the audacity to come out now and say that the election was rigged in favour of a somebody who was not in office during that election.”
On the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, Shittu said: “Shettima was not picked as a running mate because he is a Muslim. He was nominated because he came from another region. It will be stupid of anybody who is a candidate, not to do his work if he wants to win an election.”
“Tinubu is not contesting the election for the fun of it. He is an experienced politician; it is his duty which he has done by ensuring that he gets the best running mate who can give him the best votes from his zone.”
“We just know that Tinubu who is a Muslim just happens to be a Muslim. All that is important is that he is a Yoruba man from the South-West pairing with somebody from the North-East another extreme of this country”.
Party excos in Nigeria political has little or no power to sanction are strong leaders because they are corruptly subdued their authority to d sitting Governors thier limited strength to reconcile internal crisis was very glaring where internal crisis reduce the party electoral Chance and loose elections if Gov Dapo with his clueless governance could refused sharing formula within his faction and that of Amosun in d process of reconciling them to have united force to face d opposition in the state , and the excos couldn’t do anything and so Amosun too have d right to tell him he wouldn’t support him and will destroy his arrogancy and get him removed. We all saw d courses of APC Defeat in Osun last election.where is d common sense in Shittu statement let APC sanction Amosun and loosen completely in Ogun state election.
