Again, Bandits Kidnap Another 60 Persons In Zamfara

Armed bandits kidnapped another 60 people on Friday in Rimi village, Bakura Local Government Area, just five days after four people were killed and 15 were abducted in Zamfara.

“This morning, we woke up to hear that bandits invaded Rimi village in Bakura LGA, abducting about 60 people, though it is not really confirmed,” Ibrahim Dosara, Zamfara commissioner for information, told TVC.

Officials are seeking to discover the exact number of persons kidnapped, according to Mr Dosara.

“Security agencies and government officials are working hard to ascertain the real number and other casualties involved.

“Bakura LGA, as a whole, is a kind of route for the bandits, leading to Dansadau, Birnin Gwari and other areas of Niger state,” he said.

According to NEWS DIRECT, 15 bandits killed four students and kidnapped 15 others at the College of Agriculture and Animal Health in Bakura, Zamfara.

Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, said on August 4 that forces deployed to restore normalcy in Zamfara were winning the war against banditry and kidnapping.

This was revealed by the army chief during a press conference during his first visit to the Nigerian Army’s 1 Brigade in Gusau. The forces, according to the COAS, are committed to addressing the insecurity affecting the entire North-West region.
