Adelabu tackles Makinde over proposed N1.2 billion Oyo lodge

A former governorship candidate in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu (APC) has said the state government misplaced priority by earnmaking N1.2 billion to rebuild it’s lodge in Abuja.

Adelabu said: “Why will you pull down that liaison office which was beautiful and spend N1.2 billion to rebuild it? That is enough to equip hospitals.” he said.

He maintained that the decision was an error by the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration and further stressed that the governor has not shown capacity for good leadership.

Hs added that an example of his failed leadership was the burnt police station in the state during the #EndSARS protest that skyrocketed during the last quarter of 2020, saying that makinde government didn’t deem it fit to have it reconstructed and the reason why he had to volunteer to rebuild the station given the grave inplications to security in the state.

He said: “We waited seven months before moving to rebuild police stations and extending hands of charity to widows of slain policemen. We had to move, realising how security breaches were increasing daily.”

The former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) noted that the reconstructed building was good enough to continue to serve its purpose. He recalled that the current station was built during the administration of late Governor Lam Adesjna and renovated by one of his successors.

Adelabu spoke while hosting the leadership of Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists for Iftar.
