5 Dead, 13 Injured, 25 Cars Destroyed As LPG Tanker Explodes In Lagos

Five people have died as a result of a gas truck explosion at the Ogun State Property Investment Company (OPIC) Plaza in Ikeja on Thursday.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Acting Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West Zonal Office, verified the development to newsmen in Ikeja.

Emergency responders had previously recovered three dead from the scene of the event, according to Farinloye. “Sadly, two out of the 13 persons who were rescued and taken to the Trauma and Burns Centre at Gbagada General Hospital, passed on a few minutes ago.”

“This makes it a total of five persons killed in the explosion so far,’” he said.

At about 10.32 p.m. on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja, a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker exploded while in motion. A total of 25 cars were also destroyed, and the explosion badly damaged a portion of the building.
