Bethel Abduction: Buhari Issues Order To Security Agencies

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged security agencies to guarantee that all kidnapped victims in the country are released safely and quickly.

Buhari issued the command after bandits raided Bethel Baptist boarding school in Kaduna State’s Maramara Chickun Local Government Area and kidnapped scores of children.

According to reports, the shooters forced their way into the school by destroying a section of the outer fence before being stopped by military officials.

Mr. President, in a statement released on Monday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, called the kidnapping as cowardly and nasty.

He stated that President Buhari was concerned about attacks on students in the states of Kaduna and Niger.

He asked security forces to “act swiftly” to rescue all schoolboys and girls in the afflicted states and return them safely.

Buhari claimed that worrisome incidences of student kidnapping, particularly in Northern states, were already threatening to derail attempts to increase school enrollment in educationally backward states.

He did, however, call on state governments to ensure that the administration’s Safe Schools Program, which is sponsored by the UN, is followed.
